Objectives

Objective 1

Review existing research contributing to understanding IDR

The project will undertake an extensive evidence scanning exercise to identify the factors that support successful integration of methodologies, techniques, personnel and administrative structures both among AHSS disciplines and between AHSS and other scientific, primarily STEM, disciplines.

Objective 2

Enable stakeholders to jointly explore best and poor practices of IDR and co-produce recommendations for AHSS integration

An extensive consultation exercise will be undertaken with stakeholders to explore their experiences of the challenges and opportunities of AHSS integration through a series of learning case workshops taking place in the first 15 months of the project.

Objective 3

Produce and validate a knowledge framework for successful AHSS integration based on the evidence gathering activities

A knowledge framework will be developed based on analysis of the results of the evidence scanning activities and learning case workshops. The project will convene a panel of international experts to validate and refine this framework, which will then inform the production of recommendations.

Objective 4

Deliver a toolkit and recommendations to guide stakeholders towards successful pathways to AHSS integration

The final output of SHAPE-ID will be a toolkit that draws on project findings to deliver structured recommendations and guidelines on successful AHSS integration for each stakeholder group. This may include elements such as guidance notes on common processes and standards for peer review, templates and checklists for designing IDR funding calls and sample models of good IDR practice based on case studies.

Objective 5

Build and maintain a stakeholder network to ensure knowledge transfer and dissemination of SHAPE-ID results

A stakeholder contact database will be produced and updated throughout the project. Stakeholders will be kept informed of project results and activities and further engagement will be sought through stakeholder involvement in surveys and learning case workshops
